The Nursing School of Coimbra (ESEnfC) is a centre for education, research, dissemination of knowledge and innovation in health care. The ESEnfC hosts the Health Sciences Research Unit: Nursing (UICISA: E). UICISA: E is accredited by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Tech-nology and hosts the Portugal Centre for Evidence Based Practice (PCEBP) whose main goal is the synthesis of science.
ESEnfC is a nationally and internationally recognized public institution due to its quality and innova-tion, with a recognized intervention in health system and society. It is also a national and internation-al reference in the development and statement of the nursing discipline. The educative community of the ESEnfC is committed to the promotion of accredited research, dissemination of knowledge and provision of services to the community.
The Health Sciences Research Unit: Nursing (UICISA: E) [HESC-Center-Coimbra-742], hosted by the ESEnfC, has been evaluated and funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology since 2004. The main aim of this research unit is to develop scientific research in health sciences, specifi-cally in the field of nursing. Through UICISA: E, the ESEnfC is considered a benchmark for excel-lence in the production, dissemination and transfer of knowledge, and training of researchers. Since 2011, UICISA: E has hosted the Portugal Centre for Evidence Based Practice: a Collaborating Centre of the Joanna Briggs Institute (PCEBP). As a collaborating entity of the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI), the PCEBP aims at promoting and supporting the synthesis, transfer and utilization of evidence through identifying feasible, appropriate, meaningful and effective healthcare practices to assist in the improvement of healthcare outcomes, patient experience and satisfaction, and cost-effective care.
In FOCUS project, UICISA:E - ESEnfC leads Task 4.1. Synthesis of existing published evidence of WP4 Synthesis of learning and realities of practice, and collaborates with the other partners in Tasks 4.2 Putting stakeholders' perspectives at the centre of WP4, WP1 Coordenation of the project, WP2 Dissemination of the project, WP5 Analyses and guidelines development, WP6 Creation of Network and Platform for knowledge exchange, and WP7 Test of guidelines in a set of commitments.
